SSI Employment Support offers you ways to continue receiving
your SSI Checks and/or Medi-Cal coverage while you
work. Some of the provisions can increase your net income to help cover
special expenses.
1619(b)- Continued Medical Eligibility
Provide continued Medical eligibility for people who are
earning above Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) income.
Student Earned Income Exclusion (SEIE)
Allows individuals under age of 22 who attend school
to exclude up to $1,3410 per month, up to $5,410 a year.
Plan for Achieving Self Support (PASS)
Lets you set aside income in order to achieve your work
goal.
Under regular SSI rules, Social Security Administration
will reduce the income that you receive, but income you set aside for the
PASS will not reduce your SSI check
Impairment Related Work Expenses( IRWE)
The cost of impairment-related items and services that are
needed in order for the individual to go back to work.
The Expenses must be directly related to the person's
impairment and enable the individual to work.
Blind Work Expenses (BWE)
For SSI recipients whose primary diagnosis is blindness, they
can deduct work related expenses from their income such as: Guide dogs, uniforms,
taxes and visual and sensory aids etc.
Expedited Reinstatement (EXR)
Reinstating Eligibility without a new application.
