SSDI employment support provides help over a long time to
allow you to test your ability to work and gradually become self-supporting
and independent. Several employment supports are:
Trial Work Period (TWP)
9 months ( need not to be consecutive) in which the
Beneficiary can test their skills within five years.
A trial month is any month that the individual earns above
$570.
Extended Period of Eligibility (EPE)
Lasts 36 months after the TWP.
if earnings are below SGA for non-blind and $1,330 for
person with visual impairment,
they still receive SSDI cash benefits.
Impairment-Related Work Expenses (IRWE)
Money paid for by the individual for disabilities related
items necessary for work.
it may be deducted from the earned countable income.
Continued Medicare
Medicare is Federal Health insurance program that provide
insurance coverage to social security beneficiaries.
There is a 24 month waiting period in order to
qualify for Medicare after disability cash benefits begin.
Eligibility Employment Subsidies
Help or Assistance that a beneficiary received in work e.g. Job coaching, training,
etc.
Social Security Administration office would only count
productivity income.
